Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Today is "new arrivals" day at PHB! Just added over 60 new items to the shop! Here are some highlights of a few of my acquisitions during the last month...

This is an early 1950's authentic San Francisco bus roll sign. At over 31 feet with almost every stop in San Francisco, it's really something in person. I've never seen one this long before. And, it has its original view box from the bus!

When I stumbled upon this antique jeweled French crown, I nearly flipped out! The largest crown I've ever seen. It's actually bigger than my head!

One of my favorite finds was these huge bound New York Times newspapers from the 20's and 30's. They are huge in size and the content it just amazing...had to keep one for myself...

I found this petite tufted stool and the antiques faire. I just loved the faded blue upholstery and the little turned up legs...

This old clock came from France. Made of stone, doesn't it have such character and charm? I've never seen one like it before.

Was I excited to find this enormous trophy! This figural bridge tournament trophy measures over 2 feet tall. Well, you know how much I like trophies, right?

If you're familiar with my website, you may have seen the vintage bus/destination signs that I sell. Well, just popped opened May's House Beautiful to see these signs above. It's inevitable. A trend gets reproduced and mass-produced.

a. replica of New York subway sign, price: $495 (yes, that's right...for a repro)

c. 1950's Hong Kong Bus Sign $3,000 (yay, it's vintage!)

Why is it that when the vintage/antique world starts a trend, it eventually shows up mass-produced in the retail world? And in several instances with higher price tags than their vintage counterparts.

I'm wondering what you think of these new reproductions from here...

Vintage Bus Signs

I just adore vintage bus signs! The provenance combined with the old typography makes them extra special. And, they are great pieces of art. I have one in my dining room and people seem to be intrigued by it. It's sort of one of those quirky, unexpected pieces that add a spark to a room.

I currently have some for sale on my website. This extra special trolley bus sign (above) is from Bournemouth, a large coastal resort town on the south coast of England. Cricket, Tennis, Circus, Carnival, Pageant...it doesn't get better than that! I've never seen a sign like this before. The town of Bournemouth hosted many events of the Festival, hence all the activities on the sign would make sense. Upon research, Bournemouth sounds like a great tourist town with lots of history, great beaches, culture and a professional football club, too!
