Were you an 80's Fashion Disaster? I was...

The other day my friend Lisa and I were chatting about our hideous fashion sense during the 1980's. I think I was one of the worst offenders. BIG everything; hair, nails, jewelry, color, SHOULDER PADS. YIKES!
I am a bit self-deprecating, so thought I'd share some of my biggest fashion disasters with you. So sit back and grab a

I could never get enough of bejeweled anything! Bring on the sequins, glitter, rhinestones, studs, whatever. I particularly loved this outfit on the right. I was so proud when I spent a $$ on these whopping 4" long turquoise parrot earrings with rhinestones. Love the shoulder pads in the left photo...

Ah, does anyone remember those over-sized sweaters? So flattering, weren't they?

Bright, bright, bright! Get me some sunglasses...

Bright, bright, bright! Get me some sunglasses...

I can't believe I wore that obnoxious rented gown to the Grammy Awards...I'm horrified...

You may be asking, why am I sitting with these people? I used to work for John Lee Hooker (on the right in the photograph). It was a lot of fun, but needless to say, so embarrassed looking back on these photos now. As Uncle Beefy so nicely put it, "The 80's called... they said you could keep the hair."
I know a lot of us have memories of the 80's and our crazy fashion sense.
Any memories of your own fashion disasters that you'd like to share?

Fun Finds at the Vintage Paper Faire

Saturday I spent the afternoon perusing the San Francisco Vintage Paper Faire. The faire was packed with people sifting through everything from vintage posters to postcards. So many collectors!
If you've purchased from Paris Hotel Boutique, you've probably received a vintage postcard from us. I am fond of old French interiors/exteriors and the hand-tinted cards. I also like old hotel postcards. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Here are some random postcards that I purchased in addition to the French and hotel ones. I love the colors of these bathing beach postcards...the quality of the old linen cards is amazing...
I'm off to sort through my big stack of postcards...You may be receiving one!

Chanel's New Tiffany Blue?
Sigh... another new line of yummy-colored nail polishes from Chanel's summer collection (Les Pop-Up de Chanel), coming out this month. Looks like Nouvelle Vague will be the next hot color. Oooh, such a pretty Tiffany blue...great for the toes! Hope it doesn't sell out as quickly as the Spring collection did. Then there is Riviera, a snazzy hot pink, and Mistral, which looks really pretty too.I have been wearing ParticuliƩre, and just bought Inattendu, both from the Spring line. At $23 a bottle, this is getting expensive... but I adore their colors and there's nothing quite like the quality of a Chanel polish!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I May Have an Addiction...

To Facebook, that is.
I was one of those adamant people who swore they would never join Facebook. Then it happened. A friend coerced me. Isn't that how it always happens?
Suddenly I've found that Facebook has become "the great escape" -- a coffee break of sorts. When I need a break or simply want to "zone out," I hop over to Facebook to see what everyone is doing. Voyeuristic? yes. Fun? absolutely.
- Where else can you see loads of family and friend's photos all in one place? Okay cousin Sara...leave out the sonogram photo...seriously.
- Where else can you see what your old boyfriends from high school look like 30 years later? Yikes!
- What a brilliant way to keep up-to-date with everyone's birthdays!
- Privacy, shmivacy...we're all exposed now, so what the heck?
- And seriously, it's great for business. Start a fan page and stay in touch with your customers. Follow other fan pages to see their updates. Pets for adoption? 1/2 off sale on fry pans? All in one place.
Tell me, are you addicted to Facebook?
